With pride the 15 participants hold their certificates in their hands. It is the closing event of the course, which traditionally takes place in the evening after the last course unit. After five sessions with Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, the participants have now successfully completed the Microsoft Office course - and that in midsummer temperatures of over 30°C. Although a fan in the course room provided a minimum amount of cooling, participants and tutors alike still rushed to the cold drinks. Highly deserved!
With the meanwhile third Microsoft Office course, the last event of the summer semester 2019 comes to an end. During the final meeting, final feedback will be collected on how the courses can be improved in the coming winter semester. Maybe an extra date for Excel? How about a printed script for the participants? Does it make sense to give homework?
The participants also exchanged their personal stories. The way to Karlsruhe began for them in the most different countries, from Afghanistan to Gambia. Some have been here for several years, others only a few months. And the tutors? Here, too, some are still relatively fresh in the city, having moved here from Cologne, Hanover or Stuttgart. With Arabic dumplings and iced tea, Abdu, originally from West Africa, gives a few Italian sentences to the best, which he learned there on his way to Germany. However, he still has his problems with the German language. A tutor from the north comforts him, she also hardly understands her Baden-speaking neighbour.
The group breaks up, many participants have to drive to Bruchsal or even Pforzheim. Many wish to stay in contact after all. Some participants still announce that they want to register for the next course in autumn - programming for beginners with Java. Well then, see you in the winter semester!
